We found the village of Plouscat without a hitch but light was fading fast and we could not for the life of us find the Intermarche Aire. Nick was keen to drive up a random farm lane where a couple of caravans were parked but past experiences of the 'travellers' who regularly take over Churston and Galmpton commons made me a little bit wary!
We ended up in an obscure hamlet on some rough ground near a marina, and Nick survived the first night without getting his face licked - by the dogs!!

Brittany 20th Aug
We had bought a Michelin campsite guide for France, but when we saw the prices were 30-50 euros a night we decided to investigate the French aires instead! We bought the French version as the English one was out of print and cost £50 for a 2nd hand one! I was a bit apprehensive about finding one on our first night as we didn't arrive until 9pm and I had read that they only have a few places and they fill up fast. However, as it turned out the biggest problem was finding them in the first place!
Plymouth to Roscoff
We arrived at the ferry terminal with perfect timing - unusually for us! And were amazed at how many others were taking their dogs abroad. As 'pet passport' newbies we were impressed by how quickly we got through the documentation check. We didn't even have to take the dogs out of the van - they just passed us a portable scanner to check their micro chips. We were allowed to visit them once in the van during the crossing. So they even got fed at their usual time. We were greeted with much excitement, but they weren't very impressed when we abandoned them for a further 3.5 hours! To their credit though, they didn't disgrace themselves at all.

Is it haunted?
So it is 15 days until we leave on our big adventure, and Nick is convinced that we have a poltergeist living in the Van! He was trying to remove the USB stick from the radio, after having spent the previous week uploading the perfect travelling play list. First it stuck, then it flew out, bounced off various implements and then slid into a minute crevice, never to be seen again! And he thought that life would be stress free once he retired!
